1 וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃ wayedaber yehwah ʾel־mosheh leʾmor׃
2 דַּבֵּ֞ר אֶל־בְּנֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר אִשָּׁה֙ כִּ֣י תַזְרִ֔יעַ וְיָלְדָ֖ה זָכָ֑ר וְטָֽמְאָה֙ שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֔ים כִּימֵ֛י נִדַּ֥ת דְּוֹתָ֖הּ תִּטְמָֽא׃ daber ʾel־beney yiseraʾel leʾmor ʾishah kiy tazeriyʿa weyaledah zakhar weṭameʾah shiveʿat yamiym kiymey nidat deotah tiṭemaʾ׃
3 וּבַיֹּ֖ום הַשְּׁמִינִ֑י יִמֹּ֖ול בְּשַׂ֥ר עָרְלָתֹֽו׃ uvayowm hashemiyniy yimowl besar ʿarelatow׃
4 וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים יֹום֙ וּשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת יָמִ֔ים תֵּשֵׁ֖ב בִּדְמֵ֣י טָהֳרָ֑ה בְּכָל־קֹ֣דֶשׁ לֹֽא־תִגָּ֗ע וְאֶל־הַמִּקְדָּשׁ֙ לֹ֣א תָבֹ֔א עַד־מְלֹ֖את יְמֵ֥י טָהֳרָֽהּ׃ usheloshiym yowm usheloshet yamiym teshev bidemey ṭahorah bekhal־qodesh loʾ־tigaʿ weʾel־hamiqedash loʾ tavoʾ ʿad־meloʾt yemey ṭahorah׃
5 וְאִם־נְקֵבָ֣ה תֵלֵ֔ד וְטָמְאָ֥ה שְׁבֻעַ֖יִם כְּנִדָּתָ֑הּ וְשִׁשִּׁ֥ים יֹום֙ וְשֵׁ֣שֶׁת יָמִ֔ים תֵּשֵׁ֖ב עַל־דְּמֵ֥י טָהֳרָֽה׃ weʾim־neqevah teled weṭameʾah shevuʿayim kenidatah weshishiym yowm wesheshet yamiym teshev ʿal־demey ṭahorah׃

Un calendrier rituel, pas un verdict sur la maternité
La circoncision du garçon et les durées de purification sont précisées. Le chapitre ne raconte aucune faute commise par la mère. Le vocabulaire peut paraître blessant aujourd’hui s’il est détaché de ses distinctions : l’impureté décrite ici n’autorise pas à traiter le corps féminin comme moralement mauvais.

Une possibilité prévue pour les personnes pauvres
L’agneau peut être remplacé par des oiseaux lorsque les moyens manquent. Luc 2.22-24 reprend ce cadre pour la présentation de Jésus. La lecture chrétienne peut ainsi reconnaître le contexte de ce récit évangélique sans transformer l’offrande maternelle en réparation d’une faute sexuelle ou d’une culpabilité attachée à l’enfant.
